The Brewster Theater Company Raise the Curtain Capital Campaign

$183,972.00 pledged of $500,000.00 goal

37% of goal achieved

For 25 years, The Brewster Theater Company (BTC) has provided outstanding theater to our community and we have been rewarded with enthusiastic and sold-out audiences. Our hundreds of volunteers who direct, produce, act, sing, play music, build sets, and work our ticketing and front of house have built a community theater experience second to none.

We are now in contract to purchase 69 Gleneida Avenue in Carmel, NY! Help us make the impossible happen. We are working through a mortgage with a local bank and also have to raise $150,000 this year to start funding our renovations!

Our current location can only offer us a limited number of hours and space due to their existing needs. For this reason, we decided to find a new space that we can call our own - permanently! It is a frightening task for a group of volunteers who spend every moment possible thinking about how to bring entertaining, thought provoking and worthwhile shows.

Our transition to our new home will require us to raise $500,000 over the next five years with $150,000 needed for 2026 renovations!

A theater is a unique building. It requires enough height and width to accommodate our exquisite sets on a stage with lighting and sound. It must also allow for ample parking and be large enough to make it comfortable for all. To raise a curtain and create an artistic location will require a generous community that partners with us to achieve these goals.

To raise the funds we are looking for your one-time donation or a five-year Pillar of the Arts annual commitment.

For annual donations over $5,000, please contact Bob at 845-729-5107.

BECOME A FIVE YEAR PILLAR OF THE ARTS

The Pillar of the Arts commitment would be the total amount you want to donate over the five years. Brewster Theater would bill you in annual installments. You would submit a non-binding document that indicates your pledge for the total amount. A copy of the agreement is below.

Five-year commitments would be recognized in our playbill at the full five-year amount pledged. Each level has different benefits, but most importantly, reaching our goal would allow our theater to produce shows for decades to come. Your commitment to our theater for five years provides the capital needed to plan, build, and grow.

HOW TO BECOME A FIVE-YEAR PILLAR OF THE ARTS

  • To become a Five-Year Pillar of the Arts simply make your initial donation.
  • Email BrewsterTheaterInfo@gmail.com with the subject of "Five Year Pillar."
  • We will send you the non-binding agreement and then contact you on the anniversary of your donation.

HOW WILL CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FUNDS BE USED

Raise the Curtain capital donations will be used only toward our long-term building fund. This may include long-term lease rentals, building purchases, necessary building enhancements or upgrades required by town officials, attorney or professional fees required to close transactions, and any other expense required to purchase or obtain a long-term lease and create our occupancy at that location.

It will not be used for BTC shows, salaries, stipends, or other current operating expenses.
